American scientists have been running a 21st century race with 20th century infrastructure. The Genesis Mission will help launch American Science into the modern era. 

This Executive Order does what Accelerate Science Now (ASN)—a 65+ member coalition of industry, academia, and civil society run by SeedAI—has spent the past year building toward: it treats discovery infrastructure as a strategic national asset. The EO connects our National Labs into a unified AI platform. It sets concrete goals instead of vague aspirations. And it equips scientists with tools that handle iteration so they can focus on real challenges.

That last piece matters: Self-driving labs should multiply the number of American researchers, not replace them. We’ve only scratched the surface of what humans can know and discover – If every scientist in the country could test hypotheses at 100x the rate, we would still need many more. 

Genesis Mission Alignment with ASN Recommendations

The Accelerate Science Now coalition has spent the past year developing a policy roadmap for AI-enabled discovery. The Genesis Mission advances several core ASN recommendations:

• Federated AI Infrastructure: American Science & Security Platform ASN called for a "National Compute Exchange" and federated infrastructure to break the silos fragmenting American research. The Genesis Mission drives at this through a unified AI platform connecting our National Labs.
  
  

• Scientific Grand Challenge Agenda: 20 Priority S&T Barriers ASN recommended setting ambitious, concrete targets to focus national R&D. The EO's identification of 20 specific science and technology barriers reflects this approach—clear problems, measurable progress.
  
  

• National Self-Driving Lab Initiative: Automated Discovery Directive ASN proposed automating aspects of the experiment cycle to compress research timelines. The Genesis Mission's directive to deploy AI agents for experiment design and workflow execution implements this directly.
